Monday night was family night and our theme was “corn!” I wanted to do something Thanksgiving-y and I thought of a cornocopia, but corn just seemed to have a life all it’s own, so we rolled with it!
Before Geric got home, the boys and I made place cards out of popcorn. Caden did the work, Jacob just snacked.
The finished products:
While I was cooking dinner, Caden set the table. Didn’t he do a great job?!?!
We had Paula Dean’s corn chowder (soooooooo yummy… we were licking our bowls) and cornbread for dinner.
During dinner we told corny jokes. I think I had the best one. Wanna hear it? Here it goes:
Three strings walked into a bar. The first one walked up to the bartender to order a drink and the bartender said, “Sorry, we don’t serve strings here.” The second one gave it a shot, but he heard the same line, “We don’t serve strings here!” The third walked walked around the corner, tied himself up, and ruffled his hair and then walked up to the bar and ordered a drink. The bartender looked at him and said, “Aren’t you one of those strings that I just turned away?” The string replied, “No, I’m a frayed knot!” HAHAHAHA! Get it??? “A frayed knot… afraid not!” Hilarious!
So, after dinner we turned on some corny music (80’s rock) and did some corny dancing and made some corny faces.
Finally, after baths, we settled down on the couch with some kettle corn and watched Veggie Tales (because corn is a vegetable!)
I think this was, by far, the most fun we’ve had on family night!
