So, I went against everyone’s advice and turned our family room into mine and Geric’s bedroom. And guess what. You were all wrong! That’s right! We like it! I thought it would make our house feel a lot smaller, but it actually does the opposite. I feel like we can breathe now! And… I’m not going to jinx anything again, but someone may have only woken up once last night instead of the usual three or four times. Maybe. I’m not saying a word either way.
So, you saw the before photos on Thursday. Here’s the afters.
I was going to do a video because I thought that might be easier than writing everything out, but you know what? I thought about some of my favorite bloggers and the first time I saw them on video and I heard their voice and it really threw me for a loop! One lady had a really high pitched voice. I had no idea. It kinda bothered me. And then I couldn’t read her blog the same again after that. I had no idea I was voice-ist, but apparently I am. I don’t have anything against a high pitched voice per se, but I guess when I think you have a lower voice and it turns out to be high, it just makes things awkward for me. I didn’t want to put any of you through that so here’s the update in photos.
Now when you walk in the door and turn slightly to the right you’ll see this.
Isn’t it nice? I think it’s much warmer and cozier than before. It works well for us since we don’t have cable or satellite TV. We watch all our shows on hulu or Netflix so we left the desk and computer right there for our viewing pleasure.
I’m not entirely sold on that rug. I liked it in Home Depot. But I like it about 10% less on my floor. What do you think?
Moving along.
Stepping passed the family room you’ll notice a beautiful set of curtains on your right. These will close off the master bedroom from the rest of the house.
Here’s a close up.
I can’t wait until Geric is sleeping and the boys are eating breakfast and I can use the line, “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!” Can’t wait for that moment!
Just realized something… sleeping in will be a lot more difficult now. Must invest in some ear plugs.
Here is our master bedroom!
I like it a lot. It’s so big, kinda like a suite. Sweet. We’re actually not totally done in here. We’re going to move the larger couch out (but Geric has to wrap it in plastic first, lest it becomes a home to millions and millions of black widows) and then we’ll move the smaller couch to that wall and my dresser to where the smaller couch is.
But my favorite feature are these curtains!
Aren’t they gorgeous?!?! Love them!
I ended up keeping most of my clothes hanging in my closet and just moved my PJ’s and essentials (essentials = undergarments) to the dresser.
Finally, this is Baby Elijah’s/play room.
Why are those boys ALWAYS playing video games? Do they not have an imagination? Can they not go outside and dig in the dirt like we did in the good ol’ days? Geez. Someone should definitely say something to their mother!
So, that’s it! What do you think? I think Nate would be impressed.
